Hi everyone, I am really excited to show you all my Christmas Gonk cake! What do you think? This was so much fun to make and I absolutely loved making the Christmas Gonks! If you would like to see how I made Mr Gonk, I have included my YouTube tutorial in this post.

Above is a close up of the Gonks. Both the Gonks and the sack full of presents were all made out of Renshaw Flower and Modelling paste. I used ready made red modelling paste for Mr Gonk. For Mrs Gonk, I coloured white modelling paste green with Colour Splash food colouring gel in Pistachio.

I used a JEM Christmas tree border cutter to make the decoration around the cake. However, I confess that I didn’t use this the way it was supposed to be used. Instead, I rolled out some white modelling paste and then pressed the cutter into it, so the shape was embossed onto it. I then simply cut out the embossed shape I was left with.
I painted the details on the border silver. To make my silver paint I melted a small amount of cocoa butter and then added Sugarflair’s silver lustre dust. I only added a little amount of dust at a time, carefully mixing until I got the right painting consistency.
