Hi everyone, in today’s post, I’m super excited to share my Christmas pudding cupcake topper tutorial with you. Isn’t it super cute? It’s really easy to make and would look fab decorating your festive cupcakes this year!
Items Used To Make My Christmas Pudding Cupcake Topper
Before the video tutorial, I just want to take you through what I used to make these Christmas pudding cupcake toppers. If you want a closer look at anything that I use, you will find a list at the bottom of this post.
Edibles
So the topper itself is made from modelling paste. This is stronger than sugarpaste (fondant) and also sets harder. This this therefore easier to model with and is less delicate once set. You can get coloured modelling paste, but I mostly used white and coloured it food colouring pastes. The only other colour I used is black as that it’s a really hard colour to make up, and green, just because I already had it.
Although I used modelling paste to make the facial features, you would probably get away with some normal fondant if it’s firm enough. This is because as it is flat it doesn’t need strength to hold a structure.
Lastly, just to add a little sparkle I used some edible pearl lustre dust to the top of the pudding.
Tools
The tools I used are a straight and wavy edged cutter and a ball tool. I used a dusting brush to add the lustre dust to the topper. To make the holly leaves, I used a holly leaf plunger cutter. I have also used holly sprinkles before too. I also used a clear alcohol as a glue. I used this because it evaporates leaving no marks, but you can also to use an edible glue if you wish.
