Hi all, here’s how to make a cat sugar model cake topper. I made this cat for my Hocus Pocus themed cupcakes, that I made for Halloween. But you could always make him for another occasion and even change the colour.
Cat Cupcake Topper Tutorial
The Cat’s Body

Firstly, roll some black modelling paste into an oval shape. Use the side of your finger to create a dip in the centre. This is the cat’s body. Leave to dry overnight.

For the back legs, take a small piece of black modelling paste and roll it into a tube, make one end larger than the other. Flatten the larger end as can be seen above.

Mark claws onto the paws using the knife and scriber tool.

Using a little vodka, stick the legs onto the back part of the body.

Roll two small pieces of modelling paste into tubes. Mark paws on one end using the knife and scriber tool. Flatten the other end slightly.

Stick the legs underneath the front of the body.
The Cat’s Head

Roll a small piece of modelling paste into a wide oval shape. Use a ball tool to mark the eyes.

Roll two tiny pieces of modelling paste into balls, flatten them and stick them onto the face, as can be seen above. Use a scriber needle tool or toothpick to mark the whiskers.

Stick a tiny ball of modelling paste onto the face, as can be seen above. This is the nose. Flatten the top with the knife and scriber tool.

Stick two small balls of yellow fondant in the eye holes. Flatten with a ball tool or your fingers. Stick two tiny lines of black modelling onto the eyes.

Stick the head onto the body.

To make the ears, form two small pieces of modelling paste into triangles. Stick the ears onto the head. To make the tail, roll a small piece of black modelling paste into a tube, making one end pointed.

Stick the tail onto the body, positioning as you would like.

For the collar, roll out a piece of red fondant and cut to size. Stick the collar around the cat’s neck and trim to size. Roll a tiny piece of yellow fondant into a ball and stick in the middle of the collar.
