Hi everyone, today I’m super excited to share with you how to make autumn sugar leaves. I made these using the FMM Seasonal Leaves Cutter Set, but you can use any leaf cutter set that you have.

To make the leaves, you need to use a flower paste. This is a paste that you are able to roll very thinly without breaking. Once dry, it will be hard and holds its shape. For these leaves, I used Renshaw Flower and Modelling Paste. I coloured the paste a variety of autumn colours from a pale caramel through to orange and brown. A list of all the items used can be found at the bottom of this post.

I love when you vein the leaves, as it really brings them to life! In this tutorial I used FMM’s Veining Mat Set 1. They are really easy to use. If the mat doesn’t cover your whole leaf, then just move it around until your whole leaf is veined.

Dusting The Sugar Leaves

When dusting the leaves put a small amount of dust onto a piece of kitchen towel. Dip your brush in the dust and then dab off the excess. This will ensure that you don’t put too much on your leaf. You can always add but you can’t take away. You want to build up the colour gradually.
