I have to say thanks to Cake Décor who gave me the idea for this kids’ fun cupcake decorating activity. Their grandparents have really been missing them over lockdown and vice versa. So I thought a lovely gift for the grandparents would be if the girls made them some cupcakes. The picture cupcakes were perfect, as the girls decorated them with their own pictures and personal messages.
Making The Picture Cupcakes
This family make really was a doddle! We baked some vanilla cupcakes and topped them with vanilla buttercream swirls. The night before we cut out circular discs from modelling paste and let them dry out overnight. Once the modelling paste had dried hard my girls set about making their masterpieces with Cake Décor’s cake pens.
Below are some of the masterpieces that the girls came up with. I love the portrait of Grandad! 😊
Happy to say that the gifts were gratefully received by Grandma, Nanny and Grandad. I do hope its not too long before they can meet up with them again.
Thank You Cupcakes
My eldest daughter has since made some more picture cupcakes as a thank you to her auntie for helping her learn to horse riding. We were both really pleased with the results, as was her auntie!
